It has came to our attention a few (drama needing kids) have made a big stink about specific mods being added to GPM one of these being the 3 dodge Monnaco's that where added. These mods do have full credit and the author is claiming are stolen. Not only are they located in his section which he approved along time ago they provide full credit to him. GPM does not "steal" mods but we do host them for others to download. This will not change anytime soon and full credits are always given to any mod hosted. If there is lack of credit on a mod then we are glad to complete an edit.

It is attitudes like this that make it so the members of the GTA community can not get mods they want. Certain developers become so arrogant that they make mods and post pictures to get you all riled up about how great they are. Then they say "if you do this for me ill give you the mod or use it as some political statement such as you can only have this if you play on my SAMP server." We at GPM dont find that a fair attitude what is the point of a mod if its not to be shared? Why tell anyone at all? Unlike GTAForums we do not require "permission" as stated in our TOS from day one but we do require credit to be given. To be fair the copyright of nearly every mod in GTA is held by the respected car companies such as Dodge, Ford and so on. These companies spent millions of dollars developing the vehicles we "replicate" not design. This is why GTA does not use REAL cars to begin with as the copyright cost would be out of this world.

You might see some of the more dramatic kids complain over the course of the next few weeks because their ego's got to them and GPM just cant have that in our staff. Ignore them as i have made my point here clear and any complaint of mod theft can be seen by clicking the download yourself. The modder who made it is the "author" and because of our CM system they are not always the "uploader". We are not going to sift through the 1500 downloads every time someone has a tantrum and remove every mod every made or someone had a part on just because someone got **** hurt. Even though permission is not required here only credit we still obtained it for the people in question. Not only did we do that we even gave them their own download section so they can make sure everyone knows it was them and only them who made it growing their ego bigger.

So why did this all start you may ask? Well that answer is almost shocking, the arguments started when we came under a hack attack last December by some Arabic extremist which some of you probably saw. Some of the more egotistical developers complained that the site changed too often and was down. Now let me put in that our 2 network techs spent almost a week of no sleep fixing all these issues. Almost all of the staff chipped in and helped and the people complaining dident even know why the site was down when all staff are given many methods to communicate with others outside of the site. They simply where too lazy or dident care enough to even find out. GPM is a service to "help" modders get their mods out there, we host files for free and give them the means to show the community their work.

I (Scott Daedaelus), Alec Durbin and even Bxbugs are returning to more active modding. We had taken breaks for various reasons but we definitely will be pumping out some new mods. I also have some special news for all of you, yesterday we got an E-Mail from Lt.Caine who informed us that upon the release of GTA:V he will be returning to modding to convert ELS and to make mods for GTA:V.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post as i feel it is a important topic to address any issues some members of this community have regardless how small the number and how outrageous the claim is.

This is some of the best news I've heard in a long time! The masters of modding are back with vengeance! I can't wait to see all the thing you guys will be making, also I agree 100 % with you Scott, if they have given permission and credit then why whine about it? People should watermark and/or copyright there mods to stop the constant whining. I'm sure all you've heard is this Scott: "Hey! You stole my mod! How dare you!" etc. Takes a lot to run such an EPIC website and I applaud you're patience Scott. Good luck with the future and I hope there is no more downtime keeping me away from these mods!

    Regards,
    MarkE

Parts where used from some of alec's mods he made with me in the classic packs such as the MARS lightbar which i started work on and the pushbars. All parts require credit. LACK of credit is the problem over credit can go all the way to thanking dodge for such a nice design. The Federal Signal Twinsonic was made by BAZ and remade by Alec for me in Fort Carson. All 3 vehicles have the classic pushbars. No theft was made as his credits are visible. Like i said its better to over credit than under credit.

i posted this on the facebook page earlier, but like i said, most of the gta mods are non-profit. There are no royalties being collected by the authors of these mods whenever someone downloads them.

People can throw a fit about how great their mod is and how much of a shame it is when it gets destroyed by a little kid who made a horrific police skin using paint, but it won't change. Go ahead and throw a name on there; someone is bound to find a way around and touch your mods. Doesn't matter how precious your mod is, you're not getting paid for it, so it's gonna get a giant ELM mapped **** thrown up on the roof of it(if someone wants to do it).

It's a complicated process, but unless there is physical evidence of copyright documentation on the ****, you won't get jack **** in return and EVERYONE has the right to mod it.

Very well said. I couldn't agree more. Unless the modder also created the game itself or part of it's creation, there's no way in **** they can claim copyright for their mods. All that's required as common courtesy is the recognition and being credited for their hard work. Don't want to share? Don't put it on the internet and boast about it, keep it on private servers.
