Metro police around Des Moines are going towards a Taurus based fleet however I've seen Chargers in Urbandale and Johnston as well as a Caprice in neighboring Dallas County, State Patrol are switching to Chargers though. Polk County also has a relatively new supervisor Explorer.

Police departments don't just want to replace their old and out dated CVPIs with new yet still out dated CVPIs, Police Departments are trying to upgrade to modern cars that are even better suited to police work then the vics. Personally I think all the options are good but I think the Caprice and Taurus will eventually take a majority of the market share.

Say what you want to say but the world won't be beautiful enough with the CVPIs gone.

This happened in the 90's everybody had a caprice watch an old movie it was a caprice, the caprice was a the loved car since the 80's but it was too fat it dident handle aswell and needed an upgrade. The caprice was decommissioned and chevy had the lumina and 2 years later the impala as the option. However before chevy could finish the impala ford had made the new crown victoria which many agencies had already liked the earlier models. Police want a vehicle that is proven reliable and the charger has done that, the first charger versions had some complaints but dodge herd these and fixed them in the new version. Police need a fast, powerful big and reliable car that can keep up with todays issues. Most police officers have used the charger so it wont be that big of a change to them moving completely to the charger. My department here does not like the taurus because its too small.

Taurus is small? I've heard people saying, "I dislike it because of that big wide *** of hers".
