Hi can anyone help me.

I have a failry new and decent pc, Generally when playing GTA4 i get slow loading textures, and i belive it can be caused by slow hdd loading speeds. At the moment i have a Samsung 1tb Sata2 32MB Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ.

I am wondering if a SDD would help solve the problem(expensive way of doing it) but it would also make my pc a bit faster.

I have seen theses Corsair 60GB Accelerator Series SSD - Solid State Drive

Crucial Adrenaline Solid State Cache

As they basically work with existing HDD so no need to replace it and their easy to install.

Where i bought my pc from have said look at these
60GB Corsair Force Series GT SATA III Gaming MLC Solid State Disk

60 GB OCZ Agility 3 SATA III Gaming MLC Solid State Disk (Single Drive

But they seem to replace a HDD.

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas, im pretty much a novice but i gernally know around my pc.

I've heard a lot of people recommend putting the OS and programs on an SSD, and keeping your home folder on a regular hard drive (a 2 drive setup). SSDs are great for reading, but you don't want a frequently-changed directory on one (they have a limited number of writes).

SSD's have much longer lifetime then mechanical drives. While mechanical drives might not have limited number of writes (theoretically), SSD does, BUT just because It's limited It doesn't mean It will last
for a shorter time then a mechanical drive.
Everything has limits, and SSD's are a way better choice. I've been using my SSD for 1½ years now as my only internal drive, and i experience nothing but speed.
Your OS drive is more frequently changed than any other drive so what you've heard is a myth.
The reason people store **** on external drives (Yeah i do too) is because SSD's are F***ing expensive /GB.

What I'm saying is It has a limited number of writes but that number is a BIG number that will take years, if not decades to reach with normal usage.

With those specs there are four possibilities;
- Defect CPU
- Defect GPU (Graphics card)
- Defect RAM stick(s)
- Bad mods

To clarify, you never have to replace a HDD with an SSD, you can choose if you want to.

So whats the diffenrence between a SSD and then SSC(i belive thats what there called) like the ones i said.

Is it to do with how to files are copied over so to speak.

What i mean is, you don't have to replace a HDD with an SSD, you can keep your HDD for your OS if you want.
But that would ruin the purpose of an SSD.
A solid state cache drive is not a good option, as It doesn't eliminate the risk of mechanical failures, and you loose the benefits of an SSD.

An SSC simply learns what files you and your system use regurarly and stores them on the SSC for quicker access, but If your HDD fails you will still loose files.

I'd say you should invest in an SSD, and just reinstall Windows onto it, and use your HDD for file storage, the SSD for OS and software/games.
Installing Windows doesn't take that long and It's worth reinstalling your programs to get the benefits of speed reliability and durability.
