State of the Site June 2012

Over the course of the last few weeks we have been experiencing DDOS attacks. Originally we had purchased more hardware but understand that our finances only go so far. Now at this time i will not be releasing who it is although some of you already know whos doing it. LCPDFR is also experiencing the same issues and blames us for it. We have not and do not have the capability to DDOS GPM owns 1 main server and thats this one. If we ddosed on it we would only be hurting ourselves. Also every time we got DDOSed LCPDFR did not get DDOSed and soon as the attack stopped on us LCPDFR got DDOSed so its obviously someone trying to start a fight.

Regardless of this we have decided to take GPM in a new direction, for years we have had SA-MP servers and other communities spawn from or partner with GPM and this has made it so we are not "neutral" in the multi-player world causing bad blood between people. At this time GPM is no longer going to be partners with any "shoulder" communities in the interest of neutrality and peace. I have given P:LA to the developers and admins of it to still run it but they will be only working from http://project-la.com/ GPM is no longer in control of this community it now operates as its own. I do ask you all not to judge this community based on this political change and in no way shape or form should you judge this community just because it does not have a link on GPM. It is ran by the same staff and is just a different server. To learn more about that visit their site.

So whats next for GPM? We need to focus less on forums and drama and more on downloads and mods. Since Christmas there has been a secrete war in the back-end of the GTA communities over fighting for SA-MP populations or who gets more downloads. I want to end this conflict once and for all. To be the bigger man in this i want to apologize to anyone that feels i have done them wrong or that we have had a falling out with. We can dwell on the past for the rest of our lives or we can move on. In the coming days i will be opening up a email account for those banned to appeal there ban and resolve the problem. I also will be glad to meet with anyone via VOIP (aka ts) to resolve the problem. I have picked (nightmare) to organize this as he has close ties with both sides of the conflicts.

Regardless of people that have issues with GPM there is one undeniable truth and that is we have a very large collection of mods that only hurts the community if was to go away abruptly. Over the course of the next few months we will be focusing more on downloads and mods than community aspects. Im hoping to make this site more and more like GPM classic was for those that remember that far back. People want mods and downloads and the biggest task is going to be cleaning up the download section to make sure all mods have pictures and broken links are removed. I also want to bring back developer studios and for user submitted mods i want to organize our downloads by Country > State > and start correcting bad name tags such as CHP CVPI to 2003 California Highway Patrol Crown Victoria which will make it easier to decide a search as 3 letter keywords do not show up well in indexing.

As for staff we have decided to re-organize staff and rethink policies how our staff are to approach a situation. In the past we have been criticized by our staff being as the **** SS and i really do want to change that and make it more professional. This also will include re-writing our TOS to be more understandable and more clear to define rules of GPM so that rules are defined by paper and not by the opinion of one staff member.

In closing i hope that those ddosing us read this and know that i was willing to sell the site and i was also willing to close it down but as i was several members came to me and wanted me to at least keep the downloads up which more or less leads me back to the direction the site will be going in over the course of the next few months. I hope those that still have beef with me or other members of the remaining staff try to resolve it peacefully and like adults. Well said Scott and this all started just becouse of a game i see no point in fighting over this it not worth it. Also jsut want to said if you make another email so any one who is ddossing us or has a problem can just send a email just to let us know why you have a problem with us.

But get real this is all over a game.

About time we reconsider TOS.I had a feeling it needs to be revised.
So,if GPMs gonna start all fresh and neutral,I hope everything will be quiet and peaceful just like the classic GPM.

Seems like a good idea. It comes down to keeping GPM alive at the end of the day. I'm proud of what people have accomplished on the SAMP server, but I know that if I had to choose between Project: Los Angeles or GPM, I'd choose GPM in a flash. Good luck to all.

Cloudflare does not do anything its a joke really, anyone can obtain a direct IP if they have common sense and there are already cloudflare resolve ip tools. Its as simple as ddosing port 80 with the direct IP.
