Announcing the Return of the Gallery

Ever since GPM was created pictures, screenshots, and other images have been a big part of the site. Past versions of GPM have had systems that made sharing these images simple. These systems were integrated with the forum and was a included feature. As most people know, we were forced to change forum software fairly recently. The new forum software did not include a gallery system like we had in the past and therefore we lost the gallery.

Since the forum upgrade, we have been looking for a new gallery system. We wanted a system that would integrate with the forum (as opposed to a standalone system). This has been difficult but we always wanted to bring back this well loved feature of GPM. We recently found a new gallery system that looked good and have been working on it for a few weeks, heavily customizing it to meet our needs. I am posting a rare thread in the news forum because I spent over 20 hours working on this along with help from the rest of the staff.

With that said, I am proud to announce the return of the Gallery. This new gallery system has everything we used to have plus more including:

Full Forum Integration
All uploaded images are linked to your forum account, so no new registration is needed. It will also display your uploaded images on your profile and linked under your avatar when you make a post. New images are also posted on the front page and above the forums.

Simple Uploading
Add a image from your computer, include a title, and you are done - designed to be simple.

Separate Categories for Developers
GPM supported developers all can have their own sections for pictures of their mods and projects.

Slideshow System
Any group of images either in the gallery or on a user's profile can be viewed using the built-in slideshow feature.

Image Ratings
Comment System
Favorites System
Statistics
Search System
...and More!


Uploading
Since the gallery is a new system and a work in progress, we have decided to allow uploads only from Senior Members at this time (To learn how to become one, click here). We elected to do this to make sure the system is working properly. This is just for while the gallery is still in testing. Regular members can still comment, rate images, and use other features.
