View Full Version : What to install for GTA:SA?

Right, so basically one of my computers (not the GTA:IV one) is now on a fresh hard-disc and I have installed alot of the stuff now. However, for some reason, GTA:SA will not use my mouse. What versions of everything do I need? I've installed all the stuff I think I need - DirectX 9.0c, C++ 2010 & .NET 3.5 Redists. However, it doesn't work (as mentioned already).

Can't you move you're mouse in the menu either? If you can use it there go to options, then controller setup, and look if it says "mouse + keys". If not scroll till you find it.

Yes, I can move the mouse in the menu , but the buttons don't work at all. The game doesn't detect the mouse at all - the mouse only moves in the menu because that's the OS doing that. Other games, such as Left 4 Dead, have no problems whatsoever with it.

Nope, it's from the disc. However, I did try to run the game in its legitimately installed form from the old hard-drive previously, which may have messed up registry information or something :\



Anyway, I managed to fix it by putting it into Windows 98 Compatibility Mode.. not an ideal solution but it'll do. It has to be something related to settings or configuration stored in system files which have been messed up by trying to run it from the old disk, because I installed SA from the disc with absolutely zero trace of any past installation - it's a new hard-disk, like I said.



Managed to fix it completely just by replacing the gta_sa.exe with the one found here (http://www.2shared.com/file/2829044/34edb194/gta_sa.html) (it's not warez; it's useless unless you have the rest of the game. Not a virus either).
